17th Workshop on Alternative Economic Policy in Europe

This year’s EuroMemo Group conference was held in Vienna from 16-18 September 2011. We are pleased to announce the finalised programme and would like to invite you to attend the conference:
The conference has opened on the afternoon of Friday, 16 September with the customary plenary on the State of the Union. We are pleased to announce the two key speakers:
- The Political State of the Union, Birgit Mahnkopf (Berlin School of Economics and Law)
- The Economic State of the Union, Ozlem Onaran (University of Westminster)
The second day (Saturday, 17 September) was dedicated to key themes of EU policy within within five different workshops:
Workshop 1: Austerity policies
Workshop 2: The future of the eurozone
Workshop 3: The EU and the world
Workshop 4: Energy, climate change and sustainability, after Fukushima
Workshop 5: Roots of the crisis of European integration

On Saturday afternoon, we have discussed alternative policy proposals based on inputs from the workshops.
The business meeting on Sunday morning (18 September) was meant to discuss the EuroMemorandum 2011/12 as well as further organisational issues of the EuroMemo Group.
